As you sip on a cup of coffee and enjoy a homemade breakfast, you’ll feel like royalty. This is certainly true of many of Charleston’s most ideally located bed and breakfasts. Competition makes for a wonderful customer experience at some of the city’s most renowned bed and breakfasts.

The majority of the bed and breakfasts in Charleston have a historically significant past and were often times constructed centuries ago. This means a prime location downtown. After breakfast, just walk outside and you’ll be in the heart of the city without ever having to use a car.

1. Battery Carriage House

LA Times called the Battery Carriage House "among the most romantic bed and breakfasts of the Charleston's inns," and with good reason, this serene oasis has it all. Watch the sail boats float by in Charleston's Harbor as well as the peaceful waterfront park lined in oak trees. Situated in the flowering garden of the manor house, most rooms have king beds and whirlpool tubs as well as access to an outdoor patio room. Enjoy a light breakfast each morning.

2. Planters Inn

Planters Inn is an elegant sanctuary in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston. It’s located right in the market area, but from the inside you wouldn’t know it. 3. 21 East Battery

It’s likely one of the best addresses in town. 21 East Battery is nestled within the urban compound of Charleston’s historic 1825 Edmondston-Alston House, one of the first dwellings constructed along the High Battery facing Charleston Harbor. You won’t believe where you are every morning when you wake up.

4. The Harbor View Inn

It’s not easy to find a view of the harbor in downtown Charleston, but the Harbor View Inn boasts just that. Four poster beds, 14 foot ceilings, and a seriously romantic view make this a sought after place to rest your head. The gorgeous hard wood furniture is handmade and the Old Charleston features shine at this elegant inn. Relax in an oversized tile bath and then retire to your sprawling bed. Charleston is all about location and it’s important to choose a good one. In the downtown area, parking can be hard to come by and stressful. What’s more, if you’re not exploring the city by foot you’re sure to miss its charm.
