The Bella Vista Area or "Italian Market" Area is 30 square blocks in size. The area consists of the north side of South Street, the south side of Washington Avenue, the east side of 6th Street, and the west side of 11th Street.

Bella Vista, which means "Beautiful Sight" in Italian, is the oldest Italian neighborhood in Philadelphia. There are about 7000 residents in Bella Vista.

Cuisine

The area is known for its strong Italian heritage and offers an Italian Market and numerous Italian bakeries and cafes line the streets throughout Bella Vista. Walk on a wonderful journey through Philadelphia's "Little Italy". There are about 100 Italian restaurants there with Dante and Luigi's the oldest Italian restaurant in Philadelphia.
