The Fairfield Theatre Company is one of the several performance businesses that strives to promote live entertainment and cultural exchange between individuals. This not-for-profit organization believes that this interaction is essential to the vitality of our society and that the quality of life depends on opportunities to get out and come together in public places. Here, you can enjoy art, music, drama, dance and all manners of intellectual discourse while participating and appreciating these activities to the fullest. In order to do this, the Fairfield Theatre Company puts on numerous performances throughout the year which are intriguing, entertaining and culturally diverse for both locals and visitors.
Another small theater that showcases ethnically assorted films and performances is the Mystic Independent Theater. Located in Stonington, Connecticut, Mystic Independent Theater opened just a few years ago but has had a successful start since they began hosting entertaining events, live music, open mic nights and independent films. While the theater is a relaxing and comfortable space for performances, it can also be rented out as an intimate setting for private gatherings as well. The show schedule changes continuously so be sure to check it beforehand.
After many years of planning, fundraising and building, the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, Connecticut is now open! Come check out numerous live performances, entertaining comedy acts, various movies, independent films, children’s performers, and many community partners including The Ridgefield Symphony, The Ridgefield Opera Company, and the Aldrich Museum. Regardless of which type of performance you are in search of, the Ridgefield Playhouse offers something entertaining for everyone. If you have a love for the ocean, the Stamford Center for the Arts is located along the southeast coast in Connecticut. Stamford Center for the Arts (SCA) is dedicated to serving as the region’s premiere center for the performing arts. The Palace Theatre, a 1580-seat Thomas Lamb-designed vaudeville house, was acclaimed as “Connecticut’s Most Magnificent” when it opened its doors in 1927. In 1983 it was restored and reopened for live theater performances, opera, dance and concerts. The Palace Theatre is also home to the Ballet School of Stamford, Connecticut Ballet, Connecticut Grand Opera and Orchestra, DanceFest, Lumina String Quartet, Namdskaar Foundation, Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic and the Stamford Symphony.
Each season, in addition to its HARMAN Orchestra Classics Series at the Palace Theatre, the Stamford Symphony also performs at several other venues. It offers a mini-concert series for young people on Sunday afternoons at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, free summer pops concerts in Stamford’s Columbus Park, and the Mozart & Friends recital series at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Westport, Connecticut. The Stern Showcase Recitals debut at the Palace Theatre this season. Subscriptions are available for all series, except for the summer pops programs, which are free.
