Enjoy masterpieces of American art displayed in the gracious American country home built in 1912-17 by Katharine Smith and Richard Joshua Reynolds, founder of the tobacco manufacturing company. The comfortable setting of Reynolda House with its original furnishings and its magnificent art collection reflects American art history from 1755 to the present. The collection has grown to include more than 130 paintings, prints, and sculpture. Once the center of a thousand-acre estate, the historic house museum is now enhanced by restored formal gardens, shops, and restaurants that occupy its former farm buildings and cottages. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, Reynolda House features special exhibitions and education programs attracting national attention. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30am - 4:30 pm and on Sunday from 1:30pm - 4:30pm. |
