Description   Winemaker Michael Taggares founded Tagaris Winery in 1987. The winery honors the proper Greek spelling of the family name whose members descended from the Royal Family of Greece and first began growing wine grapes in the 15th Century. Tagaris Winery is the modern day result of three generations of grape growers in Washington¿s Columbia Valley, where the climate and soil reminded Michael¿s grandfather of his homeland in Greece.

Tagaris is an estate winery producing both white and red wines from its old-vine Areté (Greek: a respect for the wholeness or oneness of life; simple excellence) Vineyards, over 200 acres of 16 varieties of wine grapes lying on the north and south slopes of the Saddle Mountains near the Wahluke Slope. The various microclimates at higher elevations allow for longer hang times and produce wines with big, bold fruit
flavors.
