Quaint historic structure adjacent to a lovely park in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter.
This pre-framed New England style house was shipped around the Horn and assembled in the "New Town" section of San Diego in 1850. Restored and furnished with period pieces, it is the oldest structure in this part of the city.
Museum open for guided tours daily. 2 hour Gaslamp Quarter Historic Walking Tour every Saturday at 11am.
Each room in this historic structure is decorated to represent a different period of time in the life of the house. The house was once home to pre-civil war miliary officers, town founder Alonzo Horton, served as the County of San Diego, and possibly was even home to a German Spy! A definite must see if you are interested in San Diego history!
