Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens This historic estate is the former home of Goodyear Tire co-founder F.A. Seiberling and his family.
 
   
Description   Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is a historic estate in Akron featuring a 65-room Tudor Revival mansion on 70 acres of artfully landscaped gardens and grounds. The former home of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company co-founder F.A. Seiberling and his family, the museum offers guided tours, special events, and educational programs. Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is a part of the Local Legacies project of the Library of Congress Bicentennial Celebration and was recently awarded accreditation from the American Association of Museums. Of the 8,000 museums nationwide, only some 750 are accredited, 25 of which are located in Ohio.

  Stan Hywet Hall looks centuries old, but includes the most modern conveniences of the day, from a 37-station automatic telephone system to internal central vacuuming. The majority of furnishings and decorations in the mansion are original to the Seiberling family. The landscape design includes scenic vistas and allees of Birch and London Plane trees, a vast Great Meadow, formal West Terrace, tranquil Japanese Garden, functional cutting gardens, naturalistic lagoon and walled English Garden.
