Baccalieu Island is the largest most diverse sea bird colony in North America - Over 12 species of sea birds nest on this 1.5 mile long island at the tip of the Baccalieu Trail. The island is part of local folklore, being the site of many shipwrecks and is featured in local songs including the standard, Cliffs of Baccalieu. It also has two light stations. A remote, awesome spectacle, a must visit for nature lovers! |
