The D&H Canal Historical Society Museum is open to visitors May through October. Its many exhibits include a working lock model, a recreated canal boat cabin interior and several dioramas depicting canal life. Among the various works of art on display is a watercolor by Hudson River School painter William Rickarby Miller. Visitors may also enjoy the mile-long Five Locks Walk, a towpath trail maintained by the Society and designated a National Historic Landmark. The Museum also offers numerous educational programs including elementary school tours, scouting workshops and summer camps. Additionally, the Museum hosts various Elderhostel programs each year.
