Cheval, from Gilles Ste-Croix, former Director of Creation of Cirque du Soleil, is an extraordinary new equestrian extravaganza under the world's largest hand-painted Big Top tent. The show will be performing at Mall of America beginning June 19, 2002 for a limited engagement. More than 30 horses of 15 distinct breeds perform in an intimate 46-foot center ring, demonstrating a wide variety of skills and movement. The animals are guided by 30 humans, acrobats, actors, musicians, dancers and trainers from various countries. Haunting original music and lyrics, gorgeous costumes, and dramatic lighting illuminate the character and personality of each animal.

In 1980, Gilles Ste-Croix’s long-time fascination with the circus arts inspired him to found, along with a group of street performers, les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul (the Baie-Saint-Paul Stiltwalkers). The troupe staged the Fête Foraine de Baie-St-Paul, a busking festival that gave rise to today’s Cirque du Soleil, which was founded in 1984. |
