Experience the drama of southern Florida and the Caribbean at one of the country’s largest regional history museums. Tropical Dreams, the museum’s permanent exhibition, explores 10,000 years of history. Also enjoy hands-on activities for kids, special temporary exhibitions, a museum gift store and Research Center. A variety of concerts, performances, workshops and cultural festivals are presented each year. Guided tours offer a glimpse into South Florida’s unique historic neighborhood. HOW TO FIND US USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: |

The Historical Museum is accessible by Metrorail. Get off at the Government Center Station in beautiful downtown Miami, walk south across NW First Street and go up the stairs on the north side of the cultural center, or use the ramp on the south side. The entrance to the museum is on the plaza. |

The museum houses more than 28,000 three-dimensional artifacts, including a 1920s trolley car, and 400 cubic feet of archaeological material. The Museum’s Research Center collection includes a rare, complete double elephant folio edition of John James Audubon’s The Birds of America, as well as 6,000 bound volumes, 1,900 maps and more than one million historical images, making it one of the most important research centers in the state. |
