Description   Experience the private side of Jefferson at his octagonal retreat near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Lynchburg in Bedford County. See restoration and archaeology in progress. In summer, visit the hands-on history tent with Jefferson-era activities including brickmaking, building a bucket, and writing with a quill pen. Self-guided tours on the enslaved community and the landscape design are available. (Original gardens are not restored yet).

Special events throughout the season, including Independence Day celebration.

Closed Thanksgiving Day.
