Experience the early days of South Florida on the banks of the New River. This historic village tells the story of the river's First Nation People and later pioneers. The New River Inn, a graceful 1905 southern plantation, houses the history museum which features Seminole Indian, archaeology, military, railroad, art, and pioneer exhibits. The 1907 House Museum is interpreted as if the family will return at any moment for Sunday supper and the children's room includes antique doll collections and doll house. The Schoolhouse Museum, complete with period wooden desks and late 19th century teaching tools, showcases how Ivy Cromartie taught the first local children in 1899.
