About The Area

If you're venturing through Hudson Valley, be prepared for a whole lot of nature and lots of little towns. Although it shares the same state as the famously fast New York City, once you start traveling upstate, you'll feel thousands of miles from the Big Apple.

Hudson Valley was home of the famed author Washington Irving, whose visits as a teenager to Sleepy Hollow (formerly known as North Tarrytown Valley) and the Catskill mountain region, inspired the classic American novels, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle."

Historical sites abound in this region and include Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate; Sunnyside, Irving's riverside home; and the Philipsburg and Van Cortlandt Manor.
