Insider Info

Tours start every forty-five minutes. The first tour begins at 11:00 AM. The last tour begins at 2:45 PM. Tours last around an hour and twenty minutes.

For the optimum experience, be ready to get dirty. Visitors will hold birds, kiss goats, hug cows and pigs, and perhaps be used as a scratching post by a horse. Dress accordingly.

There are animals — goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, and chickens — affectionately known as the Underfoot Family who roam freely. While some of the more outgoing ones may greet visitors, others are reserved. The Sanctuary is their home, so enjoy the ones who approach and be content to observe the others.

Fun Facts

Around 350 animals live at Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

There are ten species of animals at Catskill Animal Sanctuary: cows, pigs, chickens, goats, sheep, geese, ducks, horses, turkeys, and a donkey.

The B&B is a restored farmhouse built in 1813. It was once a stop for stage coaches which is why the street is Old Stage Road.
