Open seven days a week April - December. Closed Mondays January - March. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. on federal holidays. The library is closed on Sundays and all holidays.

This is America's first presidential library and the forerunner for the federal presidential library system. It is not part of the federal system. Rutherford B. Hayes was a Civil War general. As president, he had the first phone installed in the White House and started the White House Egg Roll.
